Does more help?

Does more information help? Do more books help?

It depends. It depends on how they are structured and how the real world actually functions. AI can help differentiate and integrate the information we have. But how it does so—and whether it does so meaningfully—depends entirely on how well we understand the structure and function of the world.

This is why I think reading is still important. Not to acquire information or knowledge, but to practice structuring arguments in our minds. To develop the ability to distinguish between good and bad arguments. To cultivate sound judgment in logic and structure.

It is this sense of judgment—this “taste”—that reading cultivates.

A thought as I was reading Infonomics by Douglas B. Laney.
